The recovery in Italy driven in 2013 by e-Commerce

Almost 14 million online shoppers confirm the success of e-Commerce in Italy, which continues to grow also in 2013: data from Netcomm research. E-Commerce does not appear to be suffering from the crisis and will continue to to grow throughout 2013: +17%, for a turnover estimated at around 11.2 billion euros. The exponential growth of Internet users has doubled the number of active online shoppers (+50% from April 2012 to today), bringing them to 13.6 million. The numbers say that the sectors that are expected to grow the most of the others are clothing (27%), IT (24%), followed by grocery (18%), tourism (13%), insurance (12%) and publishing (4%). Clothing (31%), together with tourism (55%), also drives exports which overall rises by 23% for a total value of over 2 billion euros. m-Commerce also performed well: mobile e-commerce grew by +160% in 2012, reaching 427 million euros. All indicators show that e-commerce is a growing sector, and therefore an opportunity for Italian companies in crisis that want to relaunch brands and products on the market.
