SXSW Austin

South by Southwest (SXSW) turns 31, the festival that combines technology, cinema, television, music and genius in Austin-Texas. They are two weeks of creative madness which during the day host very serious seminars on artificial intelligence and robotics, while parties and concerts last until late at night.

Sony has now made SXSW in Austin a permanent event. And if at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona its mobile division traced the new path of the Xperia smartphones, the event between culture and technology held in Texas halfway through March continues to be an opportunity to experiment with creativity and innovation even in less conventional ways.

This year too, the technology is based on a set of sensors capable of detecting the depth and track movements, with the support of projectors which actually bring objects to life through light.

Users can therefore interact with models of musical instruments which are recognized by the software and are activated thanks to the light emitted by the projector. All with the interaction that is made possible by motion tracking sensors that detect the movements of hands and objects.

Bose instead has opened up the world of smartglasses. Best known for its speakers and headphones, the Bose company has created a $50 million development fund to support a new AR platform based exclusively on audio. These Bose glasses must be thought of  as a different type of wearable headset that has some very smart features.

“Unlike other reality products and platforms increased, Bose AR doesn't change that. that you see, but know what you're looking at – without a built-in lens or phone camera,” Bose said, “and rather than overlaying visuals on the real world, Bose AR adds an audible layer of information and experiences, making every day better, more easier, more significant and more productive.""
