Mobile App more and more. Store revenues are growing.

Revenue from the App Stores is increasing globally.

According to the Sensor Tower bulletin relating to the last three months of the year just ended, the digital stores of applications for smartphones and tablets have seen sales grow.

Applications, including games, distributed through Google Play and the App Store, generated revenue of $8.7 billion, an increase of 67% compared to the previous year.

Apple's App Store is in the lead, but Google's Play Store accelerates, rising from 1.8 billion to 3.3 billion dollars, with an increase of 82%. The Cupertino company's App Store is grew from 3.4 billion in 2015 to 5.4 billion dollars in the last quarter of 2016, an increase of 60%.

The app that earns the most in terms of revenues it is Spotify, the famous music streaming service. In second place in the App Store ranking, we find Netflix, followed by the messaging app Line, Pandora's streaming radio, HBO Now TV and Tinder, the app dedicated to dating.

 

As for downloads, the undisputed queen is Facebook. The social network is top of the overall downloads for 2016 on Google Play, while on the App Store at the top sees Messenger, also owned by of Zuckerberg, so like WhatsApp that we always find on the podium. Just below Instagram for Google Play and YouTube for App Store; Snapchat is in fifth place in both stores.
