More and more apps for the development of business processes

From an analysis by the Mobile Enterprise Observatory of the Polytechnic University of Milan, it is revealed that the adoption of solutions on Tablets and Smartphones is growing to raise productivity and facilitate internal work. 51% have already adopted one, 40% intend to do so, only 9% are not interested.

The Observatory interviewed 194 Italian CIOs and IT Systems Managers, finding that as many as 51% of them already have them. implemented, a clear increase compared to 35% in 2013. Only 9% have not yet introduced them and for now they are not interested in doing so, while 40% intend to introduce them in the future (in 12% of cases this is a decision already made).

The decision to introduce business apps within the company presents the CIO with two important decisions: the choice of methods; of development, and that of the reference supplier. In the first case you need to choose between web development, hybrid, native on a single platform, or multiplatform. In the second, the development of the Apps is mainly carried out by external suppliers. CIOs quite often use small specialized software houses (preferred in 37% of cases), followed by system integrators (25%), large software houses (11%), independent developers (11%) and web agencies (10%). Internal development is chosen on a few occasions, typically where it is a high degree of customization is required, or where the aim is to develop strong mobile skills internally.
